Q: I have sensitive skin and/or allergies. Can I use your products?
A: Our primary goal is to make products that soothe, nourish and pamper your skin. We have all of our ingredients listed with each product, so please look them over before purchasing. If irritation does occur, discontinue use. Feel free to contact us and we'll be happy to suggest products that we think will work for you.
Q: What is the difference between your soap and the soap I can purchase at my local supermarket?
A: The soap you buy at your local supermarket isn’t actually soap at all. In fact, real soap is a glycerin rich, super moisturizing product that is produced when the natural oils we use come together with our lye solution (this is called saponification). Commercial soap companies remove the precious glycerin and sell it as a prized by-product to high end cosmetic companies. Commercial soaps are full of chemical additives, additives that not only dry out your skin, but can lead to rashes and other irritations. Commercial soap is rather a synthetic detergent, and while that may be great for your dishes it is terrible for your skin.
Q: Why is your soap made with lye?
A: Soap can’t be made without lye. There is no need to worry because once the soap cures for 4 weeks all of the lye is gone and the finished product becomes the most gentle soap you will ever use.
Q: What is the difference between essential oil and fragrance?
A: Essential Oils are all natural oils which are derived directly from nature. The word fragrance can mean many things. Natural Fragrance Oils are made of a proprietary blend of essential oils and some contain resins and natural aromatic ingredients. Though these are manmade blends they are 100% natural.
Because not all fragrances are found in nature some of our products contain fragrance oils which are partially synthetic, but still contain essential oils. We will only use the highest quality oils and have had these especially formulated for our products. They are free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, glycols. These products are 97-99% natural and you will find in the ingredient list of the product whether it contains essential oil or fragrance.
Q: Does your soap produce a good lather?
A: We have worked very hard to perfect our recipe and we believe that you will not find a more moisturizing, rich, luscious lather anywhere.
Q: How long does a bar of your soap typically last?
A: This will vary based on usage. All handcrafted soaps should be stored on a well-ventilated soap saver/soap dish placed in an area of the shower that receives minimal spray.
Q: Does LUX Naturals use any type of animal products in their soap or bath and body line? Or do any Animal Testing?
A: All of our products are Vegan with the exception of our Lip Balms which are made with beeswax. We do not test on animals! Only family and friends ☺
Q: My Whipped Shea Butter melted. Why? And what do I do?
A: Our Shea Butters are whipped in small batches to a beautiful light and fluffy texture, similar to whipped cream. When exposed to high heat or direct sunlight they will melt. Since they are whipped to more than double in volume the jar will look half empty when melted, but it is still the same weight of 3.5 oz. listed on the front of the jar. When the Shea Butter becomes solid again it can still be used as it has all of the same benefits for your skin, it just won’t have the same texture.
Q: What’s the difference between soy wax and paraffin wax?
A: Soy is a renewable resource. It is a 100% vegetable by-product, not a petroleum by-product. Soy candles are non-toxic and non-carcinogenic. They produce 95% less smoke and soot than paraffin candles. They are an ideal choice for those who suffer from allergies and asthma and are safer for pets. They also burn 30-50% longer and cooler than paraffin candles.
Q: Why don't you add color to your candles?
A: We want our candles to have a natural, clean and sophisticated look that will go with any decor.
Q: Do you mail out free samples?
A: We include samples with every order. Due to the shipping cost unfortunately we can’t send out free samples without a purchase.
Q: Can I purchase your products at any retail locations in my area?
A: Check our Locations Page too see if our products are in a store near you.
Q: I would love to sell your products in my store, how do I open a wholesale account?
A: Wholesale applications are subject to approval. Please contact us via email and we would be happy to email you an application to start the process.
Q: Will I become addicted to LUX Naturals product line?
A: I’m sorry to inform you, but there is a good chance you will become completely dependent on our products for which there is no known detox available. So go ahead and indulge you deserve it!
